Yapdem.com was started in 2005 as a portal for all forms of expression, with a focus on
news, satire and social commentary. The first incarnation came in the form of a
newsletter for a new group called the African Diaspora Club. At that time, 1999, there
were no African based groups represented on the campus of Towson University. So as
we assisted in building this group i.e. writing constitution, organizing meetings and
marketing the group, we also developed a short lived newsletter.

The newsletter was called
"The One" and it ran for a semester, but would arise again
in an interactive form during ADC meetings. That eventually evolved into what is

Yapdemnews
today, a blog type commentary on anything news worthy.

We continued our growth with
Yapdemradio. This Internet station ran for about two
years playing unknown artists and music as well as producing original shows such as
Winging it with Avo Bode, The Adventures of Babs and Soks Vol.1  and African
Folklore
.  We intend to bring it back in one form or the other, as well as the countless
catalog of programming we own and produce.

In 2007  we supported an up and coming artist
Eddie Koko and helped to produce his
debut album
"Beware the Hyenna". We also recorded audio books featuring original
children's stories and African Folklore. We intend to get them published in book form
and open an invitation to publishers and agents out there.

In 2008 we suffered a brief set back. Due to legal issues, we were unable to use our
name. During that brief hiatus, our web site was www.yapdem360.com. Thankfully the
matter was resolved and we are fully Yapdem.com

Today we are constantly finding new ways to express and break the mold of
conventionality. Our ultimate goal is for Yapdem to be the source for all forms of
expression in the Diaspora and beyond. Not limiting ourselves but reaching to the
farthest limits of imagination, creativity and action.
